Meet Our 2023 Leadership Team!

Avi Ghitterman, Coach

Avi (he/him) is originally from Santa Barbara, CA, and moved to Nashville in 2018 to attend Vanderbilt University. He began playing ultimate in high school, but his first experience on an organized, competitive team was in college. He played on the open team at school, Vanderbilt Armada, for four years, captaining his last two years. Outside of school, he has played two years with the mixed club Nashville ‘Shine. He is incredibly excited about this NightShade season, and hope to help grow ultimate in Nashville and the surrounding areas.

Eli Motycka, Coach

Eli (he/him) grew up in Nashville and learned to play in the city’s small but tight-knit ultimate community in the late 2000s. After six club seasons in New England and stints on multiple US national teams, he returned to Tennessee in 2018. Off the field, he writes for the Nashville Scene, a local alt-weekly. He is returning for a second season on the NightShade coaching staff.

Sam Swenson-Reinhold, Coach

Sam (he/him) is so excited to be one of the 2023 Nashville NightShade coaches. Building up the ultimate community across Tennessee is very important to him, so he is stoked for the opportunity to build healthy and competitive culture with Nashville NightShade, and help win games in the process!

Being from the Washington, DC are, he’s played club ultimate throughout Virginia, and had the pleasure of captaining college (CNU Skymaul) for 3 years. In more recent years, he’s coached high school ultimate in Knoxville as well as played with teams like Tanasi and Folklore.

When he’s not coaching, you can probably find him hiking, playing disc golf, or playing board games with friends!

 
 
 
 
 

Mia Letterie, Captain

Mia (she/her) is originally from Seattle where she began playing ultimate at Whitman College in 2014. After college, she moved to Nashville works at the Center for Child Health Policy. She has dedicated endless hours to the Nashville ultimate community through coaching YCC, being a board member for Nashville Ultimate Machine, playing on NightShade, and captaining ‘Shine. When she isn’t busy giving back to the community, you can find her cooking amazing meals for her friends, breaking it down on the dance floor, or trying out new restaurants in the area.

Rachel Kramer, Captain

Having grown up in Atlanta, GA, Rachel (she/her) began playing ultimate in high school with Paideia. Rachel (aka NASA) continued to play in college at Tufts University, has been a member of Boston Brute Squad since 2017 (including a National Championship in 2019), and was a member of Portland Rising’s inaugural season. She recently moved to Nashville for a graduate degree in education policy. She joined the NightShade board as Administrative Director this year. Rachel can be found baking incredible treats, walking with her small pup, or enjoying a charcuterie board with her friends.
